Sentinels of Service (SOS) is a nonprofit outreach ministry founded in 2025, by Mr. Jason Johns, a dedicated community advocate, a past fire fighter/EMT, sheriff’s deputy, and combat veteran, based in Florida. Built on the principle that support alone isn’t enough—connection is key—SOS acts as the vital connective tissue between end-user veterans and first responders to the vast network of nonprofits, organizations, and government agencies established to serve them.
In a nation with over 45,000 nonprofit organizations focused on veterans and first responders, it’s easy to assume that the needs of these communities are being met. Yet, the reality is starkly different. Gaps persist. Miscommunication is common. Many veterans and first responders still fall through the cracks. Sentinels of Service exists to close those gaps, not by duplicating what already exists—but by guiding individuals through it.
What makes the model different is what happens next. Our volunteers don’t disappear. They follow up, follow through, and follow out—serving as case workers from introduction to resolution. Each case is closed with an internal After Action Review (AAR) and a debrief to the service providers involved. These reviews not only ensure accountability, they also strengthen relationships, giving nonprofits and agencies feedback and a clearer picture of what’s working and where collaboration can grow.
There is no shortage of charities doing good work. What we lack is connection and closure. Sentinels of Service serves as a missionary force on behalf of other nonprofits—supporting their work, filling their blind spots, and always bringing it back full circle to the veteran or first responder in need. We're not here to replace anyone. We're here to connect everyone.
